CWB National Leasing sponsored the superhero-themed Check Stop #5 at CancerCare Manitoba’s Challenge For Life 2.0 walk on Saturday, June 8. The event raised a whopping $1,084,576 for cancer research and patient care in Manitoba.
“All the support we give CancerCare forwards research that could someday make cancer a thing of the past,” says Meagan Atwell, CWB National Leasing Sales Coordinator.
Cancer has impacted Meagan’s family directly, with both of her parents fighting the disease. She has co-captained internal CancerCare fundraisers at our head office for the past three years.
It’s a bird…It’s a plane…It’s CWB National Leasing’s Take A Stand crew!
This year, 20 CWB National Leasing volunteers—21 if you count our mascot, Phil!—manned the Check Stop, handing out food, water and applause to hundreds of participants. Another 20 employees conquered the 20k course, raising funds through Take A Stand and Fundraise—a company program that matches employee donations toward important charitable causes.
Through the program, our employees have raised $13,645 for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation in 2019 alone.
“When a company supports the charities I care about, it makes me care about the company!” says Meagan. “CWB National Leasing has provided so much support to Challenge For Life, covering our registration fees and matching $5,000 of employee donations.”
If you passed by Check Stop #5 on Saturday, you likely saw Mr. Incredible, Batman and a Dixieland horn band celebrating those who walked to fight a disease that effects so many Canadians.
Pow! CWB National Leasing’s Caroline Thomas was instrumental in putting the Check Stop together. You’re super, Caroline!
When there’s a community in need, CWB National Leasing’s own superheroes are proud to pitch in. Congratulations to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, community sponsors and dedicated volunteers who rose to the challenge, doing their part to support cancer research and treatment.
