The staggering statistic that one in three Canadians will be affected by cancer sadly rings true in the CWB National Leasing workplace. This past Saturday, over 50 CWB National Leasing employees banded together to move that needle and honour their co-workers whose bravery in the face of this devastating disease is unparalleled. At CancerCare Manitoba Foundation's Challenge for Life 2.0, our 32-person team soared past the minimum fundraising goal and collectively raised almost $25,000. Our team fundraising efforts along with CWB National Leasing’s corporate donation made our total gift to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation almost $40,000.

CWB National Leasing also hosted a checkstop along the 20-kilometre route where 18 enthusiastic employees volunteered to cheer on walkers and hand out food and drinks. The volunteers transformed the front lawn at Queenston School into a Hawaiian luau, complete with palm trees, tiki torches, colourful paper lanterns, tons of flowers and a limbo stick.

“I can’t tell you how much it means that CWB National Leasing embraced Challenge for Life,” says Patti Smith, Chief Development Officer, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. “The team has exceeded every expectation. CWB National Leasing is a very special organization – that is clear.”
Tom Pundyk, CWB National Leasing President & CEO, was among the walkers on Saturday.
“The energy throughout the entire event was phenomenal,” says Tom. “Too many people have been touched by cancer, and seeing everyone come together – participants, volunteers and supporters – to help in the fight is really inspiring.”
There were 757 Challenge for Life participants and thousands of supporters who raised over $955,000 by the end of the walk on Saturday – over $100,000 more than last year’s total. This will make a huge impact for CancerCare Manitoba in their efforts to provide industry-leading treatment for Manitobans facing cancer.
